The Saturday Marathon is basically a Williamsburg jazz festival - yes, that gentrified neighborhood also happens to have the highest density of amazing music venues.

The NY heavy-hitters: Sun Ra Arkestra (Brooklyn Bowl, 11:00PM) brings their cosmic jazz journey under Marshall Allen's direction, Grammy-winning Arooj Aftab (Music Hall of Williamsburg, 9:00PM) weaves her haunting Pakistani-jazz fusion, and after his Friday set with Wadada Leo Smith, Vijay Iyer brings his trio plus Adam O'Farrill (National Sawdust, 7:30PM) for a completely different vibe. And speaking of trumpet magic, Keyon Harrold (National Sawdust, 10:00PM) blends jazz with hip-hop flavors.

More underground hitters: Darius Jones (Loove Labs, 9:15PM) brings his fierce alto sax, Matthew Shipp Trio (Loove Labs, 10:30PM) dives deep into avant-garde waters, and Sarah Elizabeth Charles (Loove Labs Annex, 7:45PM) fuses jazz with Haitian roots. In true Burg fashion, Ken Butler's Curious Cave of Anxious Objects (Hybrid Visions, 7:30PM & 10:00PM) turns everyday objects into instruments!

And then there's the out-of-towners bringing heat: Isaiah Collier (Brooklyn Bowl, 8:30PM) brings Chicago's spiritual fire, Dominique Fils-Aimé (Baby's All Right, 7:15PM) carries Montreal's soul, and Moses Yoofee Trio (Music Hall of Williamsburg, 7:30PM) brings Berlin's fresh beats. Willy-a join this global jazz party?
